We stand up tall in the storms of life, but why? Why would we stand, immovable, in a storm that will continue to rage? We do it to appear strong; to seem defiant to the unfairness of life. Do we stop to think about that metaphor? Do we question the validity of simply standing up? Do we not see the problem with being immovable? Maybe we need to let the storm change us, even break us, in order to move forward and OUT of it. Sometimes in order to grow we need to be broken. Sometimes we need to do more than stand up. We need to put one weary foot in front of the other and move forward. We may have certain beliefs or conditioned behaviours that hold us back from moving out of the storm. Ones so ingrained that it seems like weakness to let them go. It’s not. It isn’t weak to let the storm break parts of us so we can rebuild a stronger framework. It isn’t weak to fall apart so we can be put back together more healthy than before. Sometimes destroying what we are now is what we need to build someone we love. Sometimes something has to break to get us where we need to be. Don’t fear who you can be. Don’t be afraid to love every piece of yourself enough to let it break. Love yourself enough to keep building for you.
